The young woman, perhaps eighteen, lounging sideways in the chair near the fire is reading. The Haynes guide to BU-31 to 35 series GENOM boomers to be precise.

She's stopping regularly to check if there's anything interesting going on around too, though what counts for that with everything Cubefall related going on might be hard to tell.

How creepy is it, how Jordan digs in, exposing all those mad genius systems, testing and discovering what they do and how?

Ako better not think too much about how Jordan takes her apart, then puts back together like new, taking notes and describing systems.

"The programming part is really advanced, Ako-chan." She's fusing the 'skin' closed along the torso, the last part to be done before shutting down the stasis collar. "Combat protocols, social protocols, utility protocols... and this sex-appeal programming, well..."

"...you know it's anatomically correct and mostly functional? I mean... sexually functional?" Done sealing the last, she performs the last check and releases the collar. After three and a half hours, Akobot regains control of her body.

It is pretty creepy at first. But being unable to move, to feel anything, changes the experience. You can get bored of just about anything when you can't move and you don't really have to think about what's going on. Also, there aren't a lot of people Ako would actually trust to have their arms in her abdomen up to their elbows anyway.

"I knew it looked complete," admits Ako rubbing her arms. (Seriously, it's like her whole body has a sudden short case of pins and needles.) "You didn't notice anything that looked like memory editing in the programming did you? Gaps or patch jobs?"

"No, the programming is all overlays... extras and addons." Jordan can not help it but smirk, while offering her clothes back. "Kickasssexbot Ako."

Ako blushes as she pulls the yoga pants and tank top back on.

"Do you think any of it will stick around once Cubefall is over?"

She's not sure how she feels about the chance having the programed routines for anything at all hanging around in her head.

"If it happens, I can pull it out." Jordan smiles, giving her friend a hug. "Those combat and piloting protocols could be really useful to have around. And anyway, Cubefall stuff usually goes away completely."

"I wasn't worried about being able to ride a motorcycle," mutters Ako, "Good to know that everything looks normal though."

And, while Cubefall stuff generally goes away completely it's generally a change of the body only. Not everyone gets a body with available commercial software packages.

"Well, if you end left with something you don't want, I can take care of that." Jordan holds to her friend a bit. "And Ako, thanks."

"For trusting me. I don't care for pretty much anyone, but you... I do."

Ako hugs back. "You're welcome."

Because really, what do you say to something like that?

"No, I mean it. I know I'm a weirdo." Jordan shakes head, smirking. "But you, you're... you're like the little sister I never had."

"Even if that makes no sense."

"I think so, but I'm probably not the best person to ask right now," says Ako, "Anything I should avoid for the next while? After-"

Well, having your arms into this torso up to the elbows.

"No, that's the thing about an artificial body... back as new, no need to heal anything or rest." Jordan smirks a bit. "I was even tempted to optimize stuff, but who knows what would happen when you turned back, right?"

"Oh, I added notes to the manual. Clarifications and stuff."

"It would probably depend on what you'd optimized," says Ako, "I'll look it over. Most of the stuff in it was pretty general anyways."

"Yeah, the manual looked more like a shopping catalog... half was bland description, and half was assumptions about what you already knew." A nearby terminal dings! with the finishing of some data analysis, and Jordan moves to check it.

"...huh. Weird."

To be fair it isn't the official manufacture's manual.


That would be worse probably.

"What's up, Jordan-chan?"

"Well.. according to this, your bioconverter reactor is optimized for... blood." Jordan raises a bow. "You're a vampire bot, Ako-chan."

"What."

"Right here, Ako-chan." She points at the screen. "Blood, or something much like blood, but I'd bet on blood."

"You're a vampire-bot, equipped to refuel by drinking the blood of your enemies."

"That's insane! Who does that sort of thing for any kind of a mass produced robot?"

Jordan cant' help it but laugh a bit. "A Mad Scientist, of course." Who else.

"It works fine with your hollowed fangs." Yeah, she found those too. "Om nom nom on people you just beat the crap out of."

But sold commercially! There are third party manuals! How?

"I don't want to drink anyone's blood. This is nuts."

"And now you know exactly why I don't go for those changes. The screen never tells you everything, and you have to take something unexpected." Which is the whole point of the change, if you think of it. "I have surprises enough in my life."

"I haven't had any urges to latch onto people's necks," says Ako, "Just - I guess it won't be a surprise if it happens?"

She runs a hand over her hair and sighs.

"I don't need blood, right?"

"Hmm... I did not find any extra batteries, so you need something in that bioconvertor." Jordan quickly writes up a note. "Give this to Bar, it's a list of equivalent substances. She should be able to fashion you a drink that works and is not blood."

"Thanks. I don't even want to think about how this got past safety boards. They're supposed to catch stuff like this, right?"

Or at least prevent things like coffee machines from catching fire and burning down houses.

"W#ell, it depends on what they call 'safety', Ako-chan. Maybe in the world your bot-body came from, people just think devouring your fallen enemies is practical." Jordan herself, would dump the bodies into biogenerator vats or something.
